Woman caught on CCTV 'stealing flowers from schoolboy's grave'
THIS is the shocking moment a heartless thief appears to steal flowers from the grave of a tragic schoolboy.
His family had installed the camera at the cemetery in Barking, Essex, after repeated thefts of gifts they had left there. The boy was killed by a car in 1980.
And they were left horrified when footage seemed to show a callous woman kneeling beside the youngster's grave, in Barking, Essex, before putting flower pots in a bag and walking off.

With no back story or PROOF, this could be anything. Could be a relative cleaning up a bit, or a friend thinning things out. Could be some poor lady who can't afford flowers, and really, would you rather they be left to rot and the pots to break? Seems to me that those types of terra cotta pots are quite cheap. I'd wager a bet she's probably growing food in them. From the looks of how she's dressed, she doesn't look too well off.
ReplyDeleteOn another note. If I were the one who placed those flower there, my line of thought would be one of satisfaction. I paid my respects, and now some little old lady will get to enjoy the flowers. Maybe that's a rare joy for her.
a dispicable thief caught on camera following 18 months of stealing an 11 yr old boy's memorial flowers.
ReplyDeletei'd wager a bet she's probably selling them.
ever thought about she may be cemetery employee that takes care of the grave, brings new flowers and takes away the old ones? people pay for this kinda service if they cant do it themselfes you know?
ReplyDeletethis just shows where this world is going, first thing people think is oh she is stealing. there is no proof shes stealing, theres no proof shes taking care of the grave either. how about minding your own fawkin business?
While I appreciate and understand the people that are trying to maintain a positive outlook on this, as a law enforcement officer, the family would be aware of a "caretaker" or "relative" going to the site. They wouldn't have gone through the trouble of installing cameras if they weren't bothered by the items being taken, and no matter what the persons intended purpose/use of the items, it all still simply is theft. This world is WAY too comfortable letting people do whatever they want anymore with no responsibility or repercussions for their actions. It should be "you've done wrong and you face the penalties" not "oh, you poor thing, what led you to this life? It is our (society's) fault. Do whatever you want."
ReplyDeleteWow you guys sound like idiots. I heard of giving the benefit of the doubt but really cleaning and placing new ones? Its a security camera. Sure she might be poor and using them to plant food but stealing is stealing. You cant justify a crime to make it acceptable for some one. If stealing flowers is a crime for one its a crime for all. Oh and what about the family that put the flowers on the boys grave? Don't they have a right to have the flowers sit there as long as they want? A rare joy for her to steal good luck justifying that one. If the family says sure take the flowers its different other than that its a petty crime and at her age she should be ashamed stealing off a grave. Stick to the real issue not some oh maybe crap.
ReplyDeleteThis DID happen. The womans daughter reported her to the police when she saw the photos in the papers. She was arrested today
ReplyDeletePoor or not - stealing is stealing. And to the idiot who said there is no proof a quick googling brings up legit news articles so shut the fuck up and stop defending grave-robbing scum. If the family wanted to feel good about donating flowers to the poor the sign they put up wouldn't have asked people to STOP STEALING THE FLOWERS.

She was found guilty earlier this week of stealing the flowers. Check out the BBC website for the story.
ReplyDeleteObviously a thief. Nice try trying to humanitize it though. SHE deserves to be hit by a car.
ReplyDeleteIn this day and age, where people are locked up for stealing food and necessities (people on pensions, social security, etc), I think it's a shame when we go after people like this when the bankers deserve to be drawn and quartered.
