Super Old Selfies Prove That The Selfie Is As Old As The Camera Itself
Selfies were taken as soon as cameras were invented, as you can see from the often hilarious vintage photos in this gallery. Evidentally,
The first known selfie was taken by Robert Cornelius in 1839.
Cornelius took this daguerreotype - also the first photographs of a person. That's right. The first-ever photo of a PERSON was a SELFIE. Because the process was slow he was able to uncover the lens, run into shot for a minute, and then replace the lens cap. On the back of the image, he wrote: "The first light Picture ever taken. 1839."
