El Chapo’s Secret Sewage Tunnel
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that “El Chapo” Guzman has been captured again. The international criminal and drug lord has been connected to numerous crimes including many murders during his time as the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. They are the most powerful cartel in Mexico, and El Chapo has led them with an iron fist. He was captured once, but escaped the prison in July of 2015 and had been on the run since. Mexican Marines raided the safe house he was using in early January of 2016. A fierce fire fight ensued, and believe it or not El Chapo almost escaped again. Check out how he did it below!
The safe house definitely wasn’t in a secluded location. It was in the middle of city actually.
This is the safe house that “El Chapo” Guzman was hiding in. It’s a fairly innocuous looking place. Perfect for an international criminal wanting to lay low, or so he thought.
The place has definitely seen better days. It looks like a bunch of homeless people have been crashing here for a few months.
The counters look a little bit like what they did in my college apartment. That probably says more about me than it does a fugitive on the run though.
This place is an absolute pig sty. When you’re an international criminal on the lam though, you are probably more worried about not getting captured on a daily basis than what your place looks like.
Every single piece of the place was documented by investigators. Even the old gross food on the floor is noted.
Having to spend your time in here all day every day would be absolute torture.
Mexican Marines battled it out with El Chapo’s body guards during the raid to capture him. Bullet holes riddle the walls of the whole house.
